Our Bible Study group Text Life have recently started a new study on the Life of Moses. The next meeting is on Sunday 11th May. If you are interested in coming along this would be an ideal time. |

The fifth evening in the "Worship and the Arts" series of Worship Zone is on Sunday 27th April in the Church Hall. The title is "Film and Worship" and will look at how film can be used as part of Worship to tell the Gospel story. Movie related snacks will be available during the evening! Some photos from earlier evenings in the series are now available. |

The third service in the "Worship and the Arts" series took place on Sunday 24th February in the Church Hall. This month we were thinking about how Drama can be used as part of Worship. After a short talk on the uses of drama, we split into groups to rehearse and then perform short dramas. Everyone who attended enjoyed the evening. The next service is "Art and Worship" on Sunday 30th March in the Church Hall. Some pictures from previous Worship Zone evenings are now online. |

The Company Section recently took part in the Battalion 5-a-side football competition. We had two teams taking part and both did very well in their respective groups and met in the semi-final with our "A" team going through to beat Skene in the final. Congratulations to both teams! |

The second service of the "Worship and the Arts" programme will be held at 7pm in the Church Hall on Sunday 27th January. This month we will be looking at the use of music in Worship. Whether you prefer singing Psalms, hymns to traditional tunes or the more modern praise material, there will be something for you! |

The first of the services in the "Worship and the Arts" Programme takes place at 7pm in the Church Hall on Sunday 25th November. The title is "Words and Worship" and will look at the use of Advent Themed literature in Worship. It would be great to see lots of people along at the last Worship Zone evening in 2007! |

On Friday 9th November, Craigiebuckler Church Hall was transformed into the Great Hall of Hogwarts with the Couper Hall becoming the quidditch pitch for the Harry Potter evening. Approximately 50 Hogwarts pupils, staff and parents enjoyed an evening of lessons, quidditch and the Hogwarts feast. Time was also devoted to looking at the Christian imagery and symbolism in the Harry Potter stories. |

The Worship Zone team led Sunday morning worship on Sunday 8th July and also on Sunday 22nd July. On Sunday 8th July the theme was forgiveness with the Parable of the Prodigal Son used along with three short talks by Jan, Katherine and Karen respectively. Sunday 22nd July was the first service on the story of Joseph which is the theme for the remainder of the Summer services. The first part of the story of Joseph was used and Gordon spoke on pride and jealousy and how pride is one of the seven sins and the only thing we should be proud of and boast about is what God has done for us. |

The Boys' Brigade Open Night was on Friday 8th June. Our inspecting officer was Battalion Vice-President Jim Jamieson. All officers, boys and helpers would like to thank the family and friends who have supported the Company not just on the Open Night but throughout the session. Each section performed two items such as the Anchor Boys showing how quickly they can hang out and take in washing, the Junior Section optimistically starting a march to Austria and Switzerland for Euro 2008 and the Company Section showing their expertise at Family Fortunes. |

Jaffa.com have now finished both programmes of material for this session. We explored the story of Daniel through Hot Spots and saw that it is not easy to follow God, but if we put our trust in him, he will help us in any situation. The second programme of material was called X = Growth and explored our own Spiritual journey looking at topics such as how we worship God, does God still talk to us today and how we can be active Christians today. |

The Junior Section took part
in the Battalion 7 a-side competition on Saturday 19th May at the Aulton
Pitches, Seaton. Compared to previous years we had a younger,
less experienced team and despite a fine attempt it was Skene who won
the Cumming Trophy. |

On Friday 11th May the Company
Section took part in the Sir William Alexander Smith challenge at Hazlehead.
Approximately 70 boys from several companies took part in activities
including an assault course and pulling a minibus. Despite it
being a rather cold and damp night, there was a great deal of enthusiasm
on display. |

The 6th of the Worship Zone services will be on Sunday 29th April at 7pm in the Church Hall. The speaker is Easter Smart, Chaplain to the University of Aberdeen and her title is "A Life Shaped by Love". This is the
last of the "A Life Shaped by..." evenings but there will
be a further Pentecost Worship Zone at the end of May. |

There is a Youth
Alpha course starting at Kingswells Church on Sunday evenings.
The first one is on Sunday 22nd April and it starts at 7pm. The
course is for those aged between 11 and 18 and will run for 12 weeks. Alpha is a course introducing the basics of Christianity and the Kingswells course has been very popular in the past. |

The Junior
Section took part in the Bisset Trophy on Sunday 25th March.
There were 6 sections to the competition - figure marching, team games,
potted sports, craft, drama and quiz. The 32nd were the winners
of the potted sports and drama and the whole competition was decided
by the quiz. In the end the 44th were too quick on the buzzer
and we finished second. |

The fifth of the Worship Zone evenings was on Sunday 25th March. The speaker was Mike Crawford who spoke about "A Life Shaped by Prayer". He gave all of us something to think about when we are talking to God. The next Worship Zone is Sunday 29th April when Easter Smart will be the speaker. |

The first Souled Out of 2007 takes place at the AECC this weekend. For anyone who hasn't been, Souled Out is a non-denominational Christian event. The worship is led by a large, loud praise band and each event has a guest speaker. Souled Out tries to bring Christians of all ages and denominations together to perform God's work in the North East of Scotland. |

After weeks of hard work, Children @ Christmas 2006 present "Light of the World" at 6.30pm on Sunday 17th December in the Church. We have not one but two brilliant soloists and the dance routine for "Tonight in Bethlehem" is not to be missed. |

Jaffa have recently finished a six session series entitled "Live It Large!" This explored the effect that the Holy Spirit has in our everyday lives and how he helps and leads us with everything that we do. We also considered the gifts that the Spirit gives us and how we can follow the Spirit in the way that God intended. | |

On Friday 10th November a group from Jaffa went to see the musical, Luv Esther at the AECC. This tells the story of a Jewish girl who becomes Queen of the Persian Empire. The King is persuaded to issue an edict that will destroy every Jew and Esther has to risk her own life for the sake of her people. Alternative site |

On Thursday 9th November the Anchor Boys and Junior
Section had their Hallowe'en parties. All members of the Junior
Section plus two of the officers were dressed up and some excellent costumes
were on display. The Junior Section party included dooking for apples, eating maltesers out of icing sugar and eating sweets out of a big tray of jelly! All very messy, but great fun! |

The UNICEF Jar of Grace appeal will run from the Harvest Family Service to the first Sunday in Advent. This year the money is being raised to help provide children in countries such as Iraq and Kenya with education. |
