Light of the World |

| The Children at Christmas Production for 2006 was
"Light of the World" and this was performed in Craigiebuckler
Church on Sunday 17th December 2006. Gordon Cooper returned as Musical
Director for the third time and Jeni Roy oversaw the other elements
of the production. Light of the World was one of the most demanding productions that Children at Christmas have undertaken with eight songs to learn, several characters having lines to learn and two extensive narrator parts. Although the Christmas story is known to everyone “Light of the World” found a slightly different approach to take. |

All of the songs were excellent and it isn’t possible to select which one was best. Instead I will highlight some of the performances. The dance routine for “Tonight in Bethlehem” was very well rehearsed, choreographed and enthusiastically performed. Both of the soloists on “Listen to me Mary” sang beautifully and King Herod was most convincing. |
| There was
a rumour circulating that Tom Cruise was set to appear as Joseph. For
an unknown reason he didn’t appear but his stand-in did okay. Perhaps
Tom will make it next year.
