Text Life

Text Life is the Bible Study group at Craigiebuckler. It meets fortnightly on a Sunday between 7.00pm and 8.30pm in the Douglas Lounge or the home of one of the members. The atmosphere is relaxed and there is no pressure to contribute to the discussion. Text Life is an opportunity to explore the Bible with other Christians and ask the questions that we all encounter when exploring God's word.
We have recently started a new study looking at the Life of Moses.  This is part of the Cover to Cover series.  The first part looked at the familiar story of Moses being found by Pharoah's daughter, his escape to Midian and his calling by God to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.  There are another six weeks of this study if you would like to join us.

Previous studies have included an introduction to Christian Communities. This took the first Christians as an example. We looked at how communities can grow spiritually, how they can provide support and outreach to others and how small groups provide an important role in the Church.
We also used a study which looked at almost all of the Acts of the Apostles. We started looking at the coming of the Holy Spirit and how this enabled the disciples of Jesus to continue the work that he started and how we can be disciples in our everday lives. We studied the ministry of the early Christians such as Peter and Stephen and how they dealt with the conflict and opposition they encountered. We moved on to the story of Paul, his conversion and how everything he encountered in his subsequent ministry and what we can learn from him.
We also looked at study on Spiritual gifts, looking at what they are, how we discover them and how we use them
.  The most recent study we have looked at was called "God Is Closer than you think".  This used a DVD featuring John Ortberg alongside the study guide.  In this study we were thinking about looking for God at all times in our lives.

If you are interested in joining us or would like to find out more speak to Karen or Gordon.
